horns for sale: 1939 Blessing Artist

1939 Blessing Artist...What a player! This horn has been to my repair technician (Pete Rodriguez in San Antonio) who in my opinion is the best in Texas! The horn has no valve leaks and has had the valves aligned due to worn felts...I bought this horn as "another back up" and have recently decided to go back to school... I can't afford to keep a bunch of horns around. This is a great trumpet that really projects with a great, balanced spectrum...highs, mids, and lows...it is a .466 bore but due to the tighter wrap plays more like a Medium large Bach...I did some small group jazz stuff with this horn last month and was very pleased it also plays quite effortlessly "for me" in the upper register... big G's/A's.

Hi, I own a vintage Blessing Artist Model trumpet also, and I've been trying to figure out just how old it is, and I'm looking to sell it. It looks just like your pictures...with the engravings on the bell, and the ring on the bottom of the third valve slide. I was wondering, is the model number on your trumpet "40881"?
How much are you selling yours for? Do you know where you got yours and for how much?

Dear HockeyKDog,
I emailed Brandon a few months back and never got a response. Looked like his posting was a couple of years old though and like he moves around a bit. Don't know a thing about your trumpet or the one Brandon was selling except his really did look A Lot like one on an album cover picture as played by Clifford Brown. I'd be interested in looking at yours if you are anywhere in the North East. If you keep looking around the net there are various sites where you can gradually pick up information on horns. I found out my Selmer K-modified was built in 1962, was the second horn in a series, and has a medium large bore in this way. Good luck. I also have some other horns if you are looking for something different. Mike L.

Mike, thanks for the information. This Blessing that I was talking about was my dad's in the 50s-60s, and then I used it from 5th grade through 10th grade, when I got a new Conn Vintage One horn. I'm now a music major in college playing trumpet, and I'm looking to get some money for this Blessing trumpet since I don't use it anymore. I am in the market for a new Bb though...but I'm looking at getting a Yamaha New York model (I just bought a C horn of that model and it's amazing!) I'm in Michigan. If you're interested, I can send pictures to you sometime next week. Let me know.
